Crime Details Emerge in Dongola Murder

Play Video
UNION-- One of the suspects charged with the murder of a Dongola man appeared in Union County court Monday.

Tommy Reams is one of two men accused in the murder of 57-year-old Gerald Dziczkowski, the Dongola man found dead in his home October 23rd.

Both Reams and Michael Ellis of Jackson County are charged with murder.

Ellis is still in custody in Mississippi where he was arrested for avoiding a police road block, he is awaiting extradition.

In court the details about the brutal murder of Gerald Dzickowski surfaced.

Tommy Reams is accused of repeatedly hitting Dzickowski with an air gun pistol and kicking him until his death.

"No he did not shoot him, he physically hit him. Pistol whipped would be the term" says Union County State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds.

Edmonds says Gerald Dziczkowski wasn't found for days after his murder.

While it's still unclear why Tommy Reams and Michael Ellis would break into Dziczkowski's home, authorities believe he was targeted.

"I don't believe it was random, No I think they did know him" says Edmonds.

Court document accuse Ellis of binding Dziczkowski with duct tape and electrical cords and claim Reams did the actual beating.

Sheriff David Livesay says the case against the men is strong and credits the arrests to quality police work.

"A lot of good old fashioned police work and we were able to put several good leads together. A little bit of luck and it all fit into place" says Livesay.

Both men face 20-60 years in prison on first degree murder charges and another 6-30 years for home invasion.
