Secretary of State Jesse White urges you to investigate *before* investing, "People are losing their jobs, living paycheck to paycheck, looking for ways to cut costs, the last thing Illinoisans need is to become a victim of fraud."
Each year thousands of people lose their hard-earned income mostly to unlicensed scam artists offering investment opportunities.
The secretary of state is launching a new public service announcement warning against such scams.
White says you can also check with the secretary of state's office to make sure you're dealing with a legitimate broker.
