Backroads: Kaylors’ Restaurant

CAVE-IN-ROCK (WSIL) —  The historic town of Cave-In-Rock is known for its state park and ferry crossing but an eatery there is now attracting visitors for its fish.

Cave-In-Rock State Park Restaurant, also known as Kaylors’ Restaurant opened in 2002 and is owned by Marty Kaylor. He says he spent most of his life working in the food industry for other people, so when the opportunity arose to operate his own restaurant, he went for it.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of entrees and desserts during the week and a buffet on the weekend, but the fried catfish and view are the big attractions. The building sits 80 feet above the Ohio River giving diners an incredible view of the water.

You can watch News 3’s Dave Davis take a tour and try his hand at cooking Kaylors’ famous catfish in the video above.
