MARION — The Southern Illinois Miners remained in the thick of the Frontier League playoff chase with a 5-0 win over Lake Erie Wednesday night.

Kyle Davis had a huge night at the plate, finishing 3-4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Andrew Bernstein and two relievers combined to shut out the Crushers on just two hits.

The other three West Division playoff contenders also won, with Florence sweeping a doubleheader from Joliet.  With four games to play, the Evansville Otters remains atop the division with a half game lead over the Freedom.  River City sits in third place, two games back.  The Rascals lead the Miners by two games for the second and final wildcard spot.
