Carbondale takes down Granite City

CARBONDALE (WSIL) — The Carbondale Terriers were looking for their second win of the season as the Warriors of Granite City made the long bus ride to Bleyer Field.

In the 1st quarter, Granite City had good field position after Carbondale lost the ball on a punt return.

Senior Quarterback Federik Edwards faking the hand-off, fooling the Terrier defense, goes the other way for the score. The Warriors would miss the 2 point conversion.

Near the end of the first, it’s Edwards again. This time he finds Kayshawn White who takes it 44 yards to the end zone. Granite City missed another 2 point try and led 12-0 after one.

In the 2nd quarter, Terrier’s quarterback Darius Ragland would respond with his own moves in the backfield.

He rolls right and hits his target Clayton Greer. The missed tackle clears the way for Greer to go 50 yards to the house. With the extra point, it’s now 12-7.

They’d push that lead to 28-12.

In the closing moments of the first half, Granite City’s Kayshawn White would take the kick return 90 yards to close the gap, but the terriers go on to win 38-18.
