Carbondale ends Marion’s perfect season

CARBONDALE (WSIL) — The 7th ranked Marion Wildcats traveled to Carbondale to face the 10th ranked Terriers at Bleyer Field Friday night.

In the closing seconds of the first half, Lucas Will lofted up a hail Mary and Venson Newsome came down with the ball and scored to give the Wildcats some momentum into halftime.

That was all taken away in the second half, when Carbondale’s Darius Ragland found Tavaris Macklin, who took it down to 2-yard line.

After a few penalties backed up the Terriers, on a 4th and 10, Ragland ran it into the endzone himself for the score.

Carbondale defeats Marion for the first time since 2011 with a score of 56-34. It was the first loss of the season for Marion.
