Carbondale finishes season 8-2

CARBONDALE (WSIL) — The Carbondale Terriers had the chance to play in front of the home fans as they welcomed Mascoutah to town.

Carbondale was leading 21-19 in the third quarter when Mascoutah’s Devin Wills took it 97 yards for the score. 

The 2 point conversion gave Mascoutah a 27-21 lead.

Then, with a minute left in the 3rd, Carbondale’s Darious Ragland connects with Clayton Greer for the 25-yard score. Carbondale regains the lead 28-27.

Late in the fourth quarter, Devin Wills finds the end zone from 15 yards out, putting Mascoutah in front 33-28 with less than a minute on the clock. 

The Terriers were hoping for the 4th down miracle with 22 seconds left, but the ball’s intercepted. It was Wills again with the big play, taking it in for six and giving Mascoutah the win.

The Terriers finish the season 8 and 2.

Mascoutah advances to take on Kankakee. The Number 4 seed beat Peoria Notre Dame 30-23.
