Nashville rolls past Villa Grove

NASHVILLE (WSIL) — The Nashville Hornets welcomed Villa Grove Saturday for a 2A first-round game.

The students turned out in force to cheer on their team.

Early in the first, Nashville has the ball on the 3-yard line when Jullian Metcalf barrels in for the score. Hornets lead 7-0.

Later in the first, Villa Grove, taking over on a Hornets 4-and-out, fumbles and Nashville recovers.

The Hornets capitalize on the turnover, marching down the field where Metcalf again takes it in for the touchdown. Nashville leads 14-0.

With 43 seconds left in the half, Nashville’s Cole Malawy connects with Jaxon Goforth for a 32-yard touchdown. 

Nashville built a 28-nothing halftime lead.

Nashville rolls to a final of 35-0, advancing to the second round with a record of 9-and-1.

The Hornets will face Bismarck-Henning in the second round.

Bismarck-Henning beat Eldorado 41-22. The Eagles end the season 5-and-5.
