SAINT LOUIS (WSIL) — SIU Men’s basketball team broke their four game losing streak on Tuesday after a big win over NC Central. Today they traveled on over to Saint Louis in hopes of continuing that momentum.
The Salukis were the first to put points on the board. Freshman Marcus Domask hit one behind the arc less than two minutes in.That gave SIU some momentum to put them up 10-0 early in the first. Barret Benson the grad transfer used his height to put 16 points away on the night.
Domask led the team with 21 points and helped give SIU a 3 point lead going into the half.
But in the second, the Salukis couldn’t finish the game. Lance Jones would contribute 14 to the total. Three Salukis finished in double figures.
The Billikens would outlast SIU in the final 10 minutes. The final was 69 – 60.
However, Head Coach Bryan Mullins believes his team is on the right track.
"I think they’re embracing getting better everyday and when you have 10 or 11 new guys on the roster it’s going to take some time, but I don’t think our guys have not come out and played hard," said Mullins. That’s the biggest thing and then we gotta learn how to win these games."
Up next Norfolk State comes to Carbondale on Wednesday at 7pm.
