Nashville proud despite loss of state title

DEKALB (WSIL) — Sterling Newman made some big plays to take down the Nashville Hornets 35-14.

"These kids have always had fight you know, even in the DuQuoin game when we were down, you know, they fought in the second half and gave us a chance. I thought they did the same thing here. I thought they adjusted well on defense, and we he’d better at the line of scrimmage. We just had way too many mistakes on offense first half and second half. Just kept shooting ourselves in the foot,” said Coach Stephen Kozuszek.

"We just have to build on this. You know, they got a taste of this, and you know, our goal all along with the program is to make this the norm. We want to be going to the post season every year and trying to make a deep run every year. We take a lot of pride being from the south. It’s disappointing that we couldn’t come away with the big one, but we’ll be cheering hard for Murphy tonight,” Kozuszek continued.
