Daniel Valle is the morning news anchor for News 3 This Morning's weekend broadcasts. He rejoined WSIL in May 2017 after previously working as an associate producer in 2016.
He began his second stint at News 3 working as a weekday morning producer and was named the weekend morning anchor one year later.
Danny first gained an interest in news at just nine-years-old when he, his sister and father watched as the World Trade Center towers collapsed on live TV on September 11, 2001. He continued watching the news, and at one point began shouting the weather forecasts to keep his family informed.
Born and raised in Chicago's south side, Danny has lived in Southern Illinois for the past eight years. He graduated from SIU-Carbondale in 2015 and earned a bachelor's degree in electronic journalism with an emphasis on sports broadcasting.
He began his sports broadcasting career as a freshman at the student-run radio station WIDB and called his first NCAA volleyball match with then-SIU senior and current News 3 reporter Joe Ragusa. Danny also handled several Murphysboro High School football and basketball broadcasts for WINI from 2013-2014.
His contributions at school helped earned accolades for WSIU-TV's student-produced programs River Region Evening Edition & Saluki Sportsview and WSIU-FM's Sunrise Sports. In 2013, he earned a second-place award for outstanding radio sports play-by-play from the Students in the Illinois News Broadcaster's Association (SINBA).
In his spare time, Danny enjoys playing his Playstation 4, watching Chicago Cubs baseball and exploring the area. He's always looking for new and interesting places to explore, or any good batting cages around the area to help relieve stress.
