GOREVILLE (WSIL) -- Police are investigating vandalism at the Goreville Village Park.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Goreville Village Park Improvement Committee said the restrooms at the park are no longer available due to "extensive vandalism."
The vandals struck the park's concession stand and restrooms, ripping stall doors down, damaging sink vents, and smearing feces on the walls.
The damage is estimated to cost $3,000 once clean up is done.
"We are very proud of this park, and to see someone destroy things and not care...that's what gets you, is that some people don't think about it," explained Goreville Police Chief Eddie Holland.
The restrooms will remain locked for the remainder of the winter season.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Goreville Police at (618) 995-2157.
