Marion plans annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Luncheon

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- The City of Marion is holding its annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration next week.

The MLK Day of Service luncheon will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, at The Pavilion in Marion. This year's theme is The Dream: Where We Stand.

This year's keynote speaker is Cairo native Jeff McGoy. McGoy is a motivational speaker who has been professionally speaking for 20 years at churches, prisons, schools, and conferences. Right now, he works as director of Exploratory Student Advisement and the Center for Learning Support Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The celebration will also include music from Boyton Street After School All-Stars, Refuge Temple Church of God in Christ Children's Choir, and Zion United Church of Christ Bell Choir.
