(WSIL) -- An early morning police chase spanned three counties and ended with two Jefferson County men in jail.
It started around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday near Markham City Lane and IL Highway 15 in Jefferson County. Deputies tried to pull over a 2007 Chevy passenger car.
The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a chase north into Marion County. There deputies used spike strips to flatten at least one tire on the vehicle.
The suspect headed east on IL Highway 161 into Wayne County. He crashed into some Marion County squad cars during the chase.
Eventually the car stopped near Johnsonville, IL. Deputies arrested Cody Collins, 22, of Woodlawn.
Collins faces multiple charges including aggravated fleeing and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Austin Kehrer, 23, of Mt. Vernon, was a passenger in the car. He's facing multiple drug possession charges.
Collins and Kehrer are in the Jefferson County jail. Charges are possible in Wayne and Marion Counties as well.
