Du Quoin (WSIL) -- We caught the first pitches being thrown out on Saturday by some of our special Olympic athletes. The day was filed with lots of fun activities. On Saturday there was a t-rex dance off and some friendly coaches competitions.

The day also included the 2nd annual unified softball game. This meant the teams were combined with both softball players and special Olympic athletes.

The event has raised tons of money for Special Olympics in Southern Illinois/Region K and we're told they are still accepting donations.

We got a chance to speak with some of the special Olympic athletes about some of their favorite activities.

"I am powerlifting," said special Olympic athlete John Henley. "My new coach is named mark and I love everything about powerlifting."

Special Olympic athlete Beth Gregus listed off some of her favorites including bowling, bocce ball, soccer, and swimming.
