MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- With Valentine's Day just a few days away, you may be looking for the perfect cuddle buddy.
Meet Frank. Frank is a Pointer mix estimated to be over eight years old and hailing all the way from Mississippi.
"He came from one of our partner shelters in southern Mississippi. They're under-resourced but working really hard to get out as many animals as they can. We love working with them. They called us about Frank and said they had a senior who wasn't doing well in the environment," explained Katie Muldoon, chief of staff at Wright-Way Rescue.
Muldoon says that Frank suffers from arthritis. "He does have a bit of arthritis in his feet so he was having difficulty on their slippery floor, but he's been monitored and under treatment for that and responding wonderfully."
One of the number one things Frank will need to help with his condition is plenty of exercise.
"Making sure that he does get daily activity is actually good for him so that'll help his joints stay in shape, and the more activity he has the better health he's going to be in."
While Frank is technically considered a senior, he doesn't let it show. "He's still very energetic, very curious, doesn't meet a stranger. He loves to greet people and make sure he befriends everyone in the room."
Frank may not be afraid of people, but stairs are another story. Muldoon says his quirky personality is what makes him a staff favorite.
"With a senior dog you can often get a lot of good time still with them, and you're able to offer the opportunity of a second chance at life to a dog that often goes over looked in shelters. I always tell people it's not about how much time you have left with them, it's what you do with that time that counts," says Muldoon.
Frank will also be a part of a Valentine's Day special this weekend, and his adoption fee will be half off. For more information on Frank, click here.
