1 person rescued from Jeep submerged in water

JACKSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- A Murphysboro man was rescued from a submerged vehicle Thursday morning.

Around 4:45 a.m. Thursday, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash on Nuenert Road near Gorham.

First responders found Benjamin Vogel, 28, of Murphysboro, trapped in an upside-down Jeep Wrangler submerged in water.

Vogel was taken to a St Louis hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Jackson County Ambulance Service, Gorham and Ava Fire Departments.
