ELDORADO (WSIL) -- Community members and anonymous donors helped to support the high school art club.

The club recently started a new ceramics program making functional pottery such as bowls, mugs and vases.

Art Teacher Ashley Priddy says getting a new program started is expensive and some bigger items are needed.

"There's a lot of equipment and tools and glazes and clay and everything. It really adds up," she explains. "And so my goal is to get some of the big purchases out of the way, so that way it doesn't come out of my regular classroom budget."

In order to raise funds, the club held an event on Saturday at the high school.

Attendees were able to purchase a $15 ticket, which would give them a ceramic bowl and a lunch of soup or chili.

Once bowls sold out, ticket holders were able to enjoy the tasty lunch and be put on a list to receive a bowl at a later date.

Priddy says more than $1,000 was raised from the event. The total included ticket sales and $250 from two donors.

Someone also anonymously donated 500 pounds of clay to the art club.

Ticket holders were also able to get pottery making demonstrations and listen to a live band.
