CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A local piece of art is finding a home, not far from where it is known for.

The copper dragon statue is leaving it's namesake establishment, The Copper Dragon.

It will soon land in Castle Park, a memorial park, just off of Giant City Road.

Park owner Barrett Rochman says he bought the dragon to make it so those who remember it can share in the memories, but he says it also has a special connection to the park.

"My son was into dungeons and dragons, my son went to Pinch Penny, my son played soccer with Jimmy Karayiannis, he's over at SIU, so they had a relationship and that was his park, my son's park. So it's a logical transfer."

Rochman says they wont mind when the copper oxidizes over time, saying the green color will only add a look of antiquity, helping it fit right in at Castle Park.
