GOREVILLE (WSIL) -- Several dozen made their way to Saline Lodge for a free pancake breakfast Saturday morning.
The breakfast, called the 'Meet the Mason's Event', served just a small part in a day dedicated to allowing the community to learn more about their lodge members.
Members caught up, and the public dropped in to see what plans the organization is currently working on.
Saline Lodge often raises money for youth benefits - whether it be buying playground equipment for Goreville School or offering scholarships to students.
An organizer for the breakfast, Eric Neumann, says the bottom line is, and always has been, about helping kids succeed.
"It's always nice to see people come in. Yes, we usually do these as fundraisers. Our goal is to make sure people are aware of us, what we do for the community, and how they could do it, too. We try to focus on children's charities - sponsoring teams to go to scholastic bowl events. Any way we can support kids is what we're into," says Neumann.
There's big news starting this March, too.
The Goreville and Vienna Shriners told News 3 they plan on hosting a free breakfast every Thursday, and it's completely open to the public.
