CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Students from Carbondale Community High School showed compassion for those in need.

Twenty-four new cots were donated to the Carbondale Warming Center. The students purchased the cots after winning money from the Pepsi bottle cap contest.

They also used the funds to buy food and cleaning items.

Warming Center Director Carmalita Cahill says she's grateful for the generous gifts.

"They're unloading a mini van, a pick-up truck of all these items that they've chosen to bring here. And that's beautiful, we get to see kids doing something wonderful and something good and not just the negative," she said.

The Warming Center is located on Illinois Avenue and open every day of the week.
