CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A Carbondale man is facing burglary and trespassing charges.

Around 11 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the 500 block of South Forest Street for a residential burglary in progress.

When they arrived, officers found someone had forced his way into the home and several items had been removed, but the suspect was gone.

Less than an hour later, officers were called to the 700 block of South Forest for a person who had walked into a home without permission.

The person fled but was found by officers hiding nearby.

Carbondale Police say Troy Johnson, 56, of Carbondale, was arrested for residential burglary, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to residence.

Johnson was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 1.
