(WSIL) -- Centerstone has been awarded a $2 million grant to treat children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events.
A new program called CT3: Centerstone Trauma Treatment and Training will use $400,000 each year for five years for services including: therapy , care management, professional training and community education.
The counties covered in the program include Franklin, Jackson, Madison, Perry, Randolph, St. Clair, Union, Washington and Williamson.
"Here in the counties that we have received the grant, the numbers are actually higher for trauma, in childhood trauma across the state--it's like 2.7% higher than the rest of the state of Illinois," said Centerstone Clinical Coordinator Shalynn Malone.
The program is scheduled to begin May 31st with a three month planning phase.
