DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO. (WSIL) -- A crash Saturday afternoon in Dunklin injured four people and took the life of a 23-year-old Kennett, MO man.
According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on U.S. 412 east of the Kennett about 3:50 p.m.
Investigators noted a 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Brianna Harris, 23, of Portageville, was heading westbound and went off the side of the road.
That's when the driver over corrected striking a 2016 GMC Sierra heading eastbound, driven by James Shallie, 32, of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Shallie’s vehicle struck Harris’s vehicle in the right side.
Shallie was described as having moderate injuries when she and her two passengers, both with minor injuries, were taken by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Harris suffered serious injuries and was flown to Regional Medical in Memphis.
Harris’s passenger, Nicholas Hampton, 25, of Kennett, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dunklin County Coroner.
His family has been notified, according to the report.
His death marks the 17th fatality on highways in Troop E's jurisdiction this year.
