CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Illinois moved into Phase 4 of the "Restore Illinois" plan Friday.
As the state moves into the next phase, and restaurants are allowed to partially reopen their dining rooms, staff at New Kahala in Carbondale say it's not worth putting their employees at an unnecessary risk.
"And also it's for our staff. You know my dad, the owner, he cooks, he's 66. A lot of our staff has older parents, and we don't want to expose them to anything we don't have to," says General Manager, William Lo.
They say they are going to keep tabs on southern Illinois' progress in terms of COVID-19 cases, and reassess in a couple of weeks.
New Kahala is still taking orders for curbside pick-up and wearing masks.
