(WSIL) -- Recent rains and a persistent south flow have combined to lift humidity levels, and they will stay high for the week.
A slow-moving, weak storm system will linger near the region and utilize the humidity to produce showers and storms.
The biggest chance of storms is focused late Monday night. The risk of severe weather is small, but very heavy rain is possible locally.
Rain chances are expected to drop a bit by Friday, but an isolated storm can not be ruled out during the holiday weekend.
Humidity is high enough to produce some heat index values near 100 degrees during the next few afternoons.
I will have the latest updates and a look at Doppler radar on News 3 this evening.
