CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Typical July weather will continue on through the remainder of the week. That means hot, humid, and more scattered storms.
To beat the heat, it's best to get strenuous outdoor activities done in the early morning. We say it often in this part of the country, it's not the heat, but it's the humidity.
Dew points will be running in the low to mid 70s, and afternoon temperatures will be in the lower 90s. The two will combine for heat indices near 100 during the heat of the afternoon.
While many will remain dry, a few pop up storms are possible during the heat of the day. The main threat is heavy rain and lightning. These will fade away quickly after sunset.
Meteorologist Nick Hausen is tracking the latest on the heat index on News 3 This Morning.
