(WSIL) -- The summer heat may have you running indoors, but you may not be alone.

Andy Murrow, owner of Egyptian Exterminating, says the heat has a tendency to not only increase bug populations, but also drive them inside.

He says, while they suspect the warm weather has played a role, they've received an increase in business this year partly because people are spending more time at home due to COVID-19.

While Murrow says they're happy to help, there are some things you can do to fortify your defenses against pests, like buying premixed pest sprays at the store.

"So a good perimeter spray, then around your windows, up on your eves if you can reach it, but mainly, especially around the perimeter, especially around your porches and doorways, windows, and entry points of your home."

Murrow says whether you purchase a premade pest control spray, or make your own, it's important to abide by the instructions on the label.
