MARION (WSIL) -- A local resident feels fortunate to be safe after a truck crashed into his home near the intersection of Russell and Maplewood early Sunday morning.

Corey Messamore says a loud noise woke him up and he thought a tree had collapsed from severe weather.

When he got out of bed to check on what had happened, Messamore found his garage door pushed in and damage to his two vehicles inside, as well as, an inside wall.

Parts of his garage were found down the street and some other debris a few blocks away from the home.

Messamore says these material things can be replaced and what matters is that no one inside including animals were hurt.

"We are trying to make the best of the situation. The vehicles can be replaced. The house can be fixed," he explains. "Nobody was hurt. We were in bed asleep and our dogs were in the room with us."

Messamore would like who ever is responsible will own up to what they did.

"We just hope that whoever was involved in this will come forward and be honest about what happened," he adds. "Do the right thing and get this taken care of."

Video footage from home security cameras in the area show a dark-colored truck did the damage.

It's believed that the driver came from the street that lines the driveway.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Marion Police Department.
