3 injured in shooting near Dongola

Illinois State Police are releasing more information about an early morning shooting on Interstate 57.

ISP Zone 7 investigators were called to I-57 near Exit 24 around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

State Police say three men were in a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.

The three men, ages 18, 28, and 31 and all from Cairo, were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information on it is asked to call Illinois State Police District 13 at (618) 542-2171, Ext. 1207.

(WSIL) -- The Union County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police are on-scene investigating an early morning shooting in Union County.

Three people have been reportedly transported to a local hospital by ambulance for injuries. There are no details on the condition of the victims or their identities at this time.

It all happened on the Exit 24 ramp on southbound Interstate 57 near Dongola just after 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The southbound ramp is closed until further notice while police conduct an investigation.
