CAPE GIRARDEAU (WSIL) -- Meet Comet, a young pup looking for his 'Furever Home'.
"He's about two years old. He's house broken. He's a medium energy dog and you can see he really loves people," says Cindy Lange, Community Outreach and Development Coordinator for the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
Lange says he seems to like other animals as well. "Good with dogs, good with cats, good with people. He's been fine. We have a kitty outside here and he's been totally fine with him."
He not only plays well with others, but is partially trained.
"He can sit, he's got a few basics down. He would need to be a little retrained in the new home but I think he's very very trainable, very smart," explains Lange.
Lange says Comet would love a fenced in backyard to play and explore. "Kind of a medium active family, he would work very well with those kind of individuals but he would probably be very good for an active family also. He does need some execise just because he is young and a two year old guy. He is a really really good dog."
While Comet is healthy overall, he would require some temporary treatment.
"He does have a special issue. He is heartworm positive so he will need that treatment with his new family. That gives us a little bit of a challenge to find him a good family but we know his family is out there," explains Lange.
