CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Another large fundraiser is moving online as a way to keep participants safe during the pandemic.

The Superhero 5K, which attracts hundreds to Carbondale each year, will take place as a virtual race where runners and walkers will log in and post their results.

Racers can complete the 5K any time between September 26th and October 4th. Those who sign-up, will still receive a t-shirt and a chance to win other prizes while helping orphans and students in Bangladesh.

"We will absolutely miss getting together and being able to see each other in person, a big part of our event is kind of like the festival vibe that happens on race day," says Assistant Director Ryan Edwards. "The funds are still needed more than ever, with people running everywhere, posting to social media, check out our Facebook live videos, we're hoping to still have the sense that we're all in this together."

This is the tenth year for this event, and is the largest fundraiser for the Kids' Sake organization.
