Car found in Mt Vernon connected to man wanted for Olney homicide

MT VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- Mt Vernon Police and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office are teaming up with the Illinois State Police and the Olney Police Department to find a man connected to a homicide over the weekend.

Mt. Vernon police say a car belonging to the suspect was located in Jefferson County.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rick A. Meador, 19, after a shooting on Sept 6 in Olney, Il. He's described as 5'11'' tall, 155 lbs with hazel eyes and brown hair. Investigators said he may be accompanied by a juvenile female.

Investigators say Kyle Johnson, 19, of Olney was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the intersection of North Walnut and East Laurel Street. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An Autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
