AVA, Ill. (WSIL) -- The political season is here and a Jackson County homeowner has seen his campaign signs vandalized.
The homeowner, who lives in Ava, said he heard a commotion outside of his home. When he went to check it out he noticed his Trump and Bost campaign signs ripped to the ground.
The homeowner, who did not want to go camera, said the crime happened on Sunday around 7:30 p.m. He told News 3, the vandals yelled anti-Trump comments before they drove away.
We contacted Congressman Mike Bost who told us this type of behavior is unacceptable.
"The political season, we're all out there, I want to encourage open debate, but you've got to understand that destroying property is not, is not, a freedom that you have under your first amendment," said the congressional candidate, Mike Bost.
Congressman Bost is a Republican from Murphysboro who is running for re-election in the Illinois 12th Congressional District.
