MASSAC CO. (WSIL) -- Massac County Early Learning Center will be closed for a week due to positive cases of the coronavirus.
Southern Seven Health Department says there have been two confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the facility.
"Head Start learned on October 11, that the first person tested positive on October 10 and subsequently closed a classroom for two weeks. They later learned on October 15 that a second individual, who was also tested on October 10, had tested positive. Both persons had not been in the facility since their testing date. The center was closed on October 16 as part of regular weekly remote learning," stated a release Friday from Southern Seven Health Department.
Southern Seven says families have been notified, and contract tracing is underway.
According to Head Start officials, the closure will provide time for cleaning and disinfecting the facility.
The center will offer remote learning Oct. 19 - Oct. 23. Classes will resume in person Monday, Oct. 26.
