MARION (WSIL) -- Despite the wind, the weather made perfect for a parade Saturday morning with blue skies providing a backdrop for hundreds of American flags, and spectators waving them, as they cheered on Marion's 16th annual Veterans on Parade.

Firetrucks, marching teams, veterans, Shriners' mini cars and more, made their way East on Main Street from the junior high school to the Williamson County Fairgrounds for a Memorial ceremony, honoring first responders as well.

organizers say they remained hopeful for Saturday's parade after its original date was canceled due to COVID-19. Each year the parade honors veterans from all branches - with many of those marching .. having served in times of war.
