Postal delays frustrate Elkville residents

ELKVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Some of the residents living in Elkville said they have been receiving spotty mail delivery from the U.S. Postal Service.

One person told News 3 the postmaster who previously worked at the Elkville post office became ill and then retired. Since then, temporary workers have been filling-in. Lyle Bowlin said residents are getting their mail and packages days, weeks and even months late.
He said the problems began back in June.

"I'm still looking for an invitation to a wedding that was on September 5. The first one the girl sent me, it was the first part of August and I called her and said, hey, I haven't gotten the invitation yet. She says, well I'll just mail another one. So after I talked to her about two weeks later I got the first invitation about 4 days before the wedding. But in the meantime she had mailed me another one and I still haven't got that and that would have been in August," said Bowlin.

We reached out a U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman at the Saint Louis branch. We are still waiting for her response.
