CARBONDALE (SIU ATLETICS) -- A new update on SIU junior center J.D. Muila. He will now miss the 2020-21 basketball season after tearing his meniscus in his left knee at practice late last week. Surgery took place Tuesday and was a success. The original prognosis was Muila would miss 6-8 weeks. Doctors reevaluated his timeline for rehabilitation at 4-6 months.
Muila, who was rated the No. 24 junior college recruit in the nation by JucoRecruiting.com, is a transfer from Indian Hills College. In two years there, he helped Indian Hills to a 57-10 record and shot better than 60 percent from the field. He led Indian Hills in rebounding last season and had 13 career 10+ rebound games.
