CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- With the holidays approaching and new restrictions in effect, the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce is helping local businesses get some foot-traffic.

The chamber told News 3 they encourage customers to shop during 'Small Business Saturday' next week, and they are working on new promotions for store owners, online.

Carbondale Chamber CEO, Tom Davenport, says as long as everyone follows safety guidelines, you can still have a fun shopping experience.

"The things that small business will have problems with is if we go back to a "stay at home" order because small business makes 50% of their income in November and December. And if some reason they lose the month of December, that's bad news," he said.

He says they are currently updating what local businesses are offering on the chamber's website.
