CAPE GIRARDEAU (WSIL) -- Powder is a young pup at the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri and is looking for her 'Furever Home.'

"She is a couple of years old, little girl. She is already spayed and she is up to date on her vaccinations," Cindy Lange, Community Outreach and Development Coordinator with the shelter.

Lange says Powder is even already housetrained. "It's my understanding that she would actually go to the door and let the family know. She may need a little retraining on that in a new home but it is something she's already familiar with."

Lange says the only downside is that Powder is heartworm positive and would need treatment. "The adopter would be responsible for the payment for that and we have a reduced rate of $450 for that treatment but the adoptions fees that we would typically have for a dog are going to be waived, so that heartworm treatment would be the cost."

After treatment Lange says Powder would make a great family dog. "She's just more interested in the people. She seems to want to hang out with the folks who work here or the visitors so I think she's just really people oriented. She does like to sniff things also. She would be one of those dogs that like to sniff around on their walks."
