CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The Thanksgiving holiday is a reminder that there is so much to be thankful for. The Southern Illinois men's basketball team opened up to us about what they are thankful for.
"I'm thankful for my family and the team and the friendships I've made here. You just don't know what you'll walk into in a whole new environment but definitely throughout the year, I just think this team is special where we've come together and I'm really thankful for," SIU sophomore Trent Brown said.
"I'm thankful for all the people around here, we've built a family and obviously my normal family and just basketball the places it's taken me and really just the people I'm surrounded by on a daily basis," SIU sophomore Marcus Domask said.
"I'm thankful for the SIU community, the coaching staff, my teammates, my family back home, family and friends back home and an opportunity to play this year in front of SIU fans," SIU sophomore Ben Harvey said.
"Thankful for my family, my host family, all my family in DR, all the coaches that helped me get to this point and SIU's staff for giving me this opportunity," SIU sophomore Steven Verplancken said.
"I'm thankful for my family," SIU freshman Kyler Filewich said. "They blessed me with an amazing opportunity trying to put me in the best situation to make me successful and they are a huge reason why I am here today. I am also thankful for everyone here at SIU, all the coaches, my teammates, all the support, just the opportunity to represent this university and this team. Its a great feeling, it's a great school, great team and I'm super happy to be here."
"I'm thankful for my friends and family and my family that is around here and my brother and all my players at SIU," SIU graduate assistant Rob Dosier said.
