(CNN) -- Cannabis sales ahead of Christmas and New Year's are expected to surge this year. That's according research from enterprise software company Akerna.
The company believes that pre-Christmas cannabis sales will generate $400 million dollars in the week leading up to Christmas eve.
Pre-New Year's sales are expected to generate $81 million dollars.
Akerna thinks males will account for 64 percent of those sales and females will make up 36 percent.
The most popular item is expected to be cannabis flower, followed by cartridges and pens, concentrates, and infused edibles.
