MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- Meet Sedona, a two year old lab mix looking for her 'Furever Home'.
"When she came in she was literally just skin and bones. We honestly weren't sure she was going to make it," says Diane Daugherty, President of the Board at St. Francis CARE.
Sedona has been at the shelter for 85 days after falling victim to animal abuse.
"Sedona was literally being starved to death. I hope there's a prosecution coming. They were feeding another dog and they weren't feeding Sedona," explains Daugherty.
Daugherty says Sedona was left out on a chain and even has what looks to be bite marks.
"You can see on her ears where she's been literally attacked by another dog. Those are bites marks so she's started off life really bad," says Daugherty.
Since being rescued, Sedona has gained 20 pounds and has lots of love to give.
"The first two years of her life have been miserable but obviously she doesn't have a very long time memory because she's very happy. She's gained the 20 pounds. She's been treated for heartworms," adds Daugherty.
Sedona's adopotion fee is $175. She's spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
"She obviously loves attention. She loves any kind of treat. I think she'd be a wonderful family dog. She's got an awful lot of life left in her and she deserves a really good life. She is over due for a good home," states Daugherty.
