Carbondale police investigating armed robbery

CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Police in Carbondale are investigating after a person reported being robbed at gunpoint.

On Wednesday, Jan. 7, officers responded to the 1100 block of East Main Street around noon for a complaint of an armed robbery.

The victim stated he agreed to meet with acquaintances he communicated with by social media for a transaction.

The male and female suspects got into the victim's car and the man pulled out a handgun. Both suspects took the victim's property and left in another vehicle.

The female is identified as a 15-year-old girl and the man is described as approximately 20 years of age, brown hair, 5'11, 120 lbs.

The suspects might be in an unknown model gold Pontiac.

The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS.
