Beshear: Kentucky’s new COVID-19 cases reach 4,560 Thursday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says the state added 4,560 COVID-19 cases Thursday, the fourth highest number since the pandemic began. The three days with higher numbers of cases were all last week. Beshear’s office said there were also 47 deaths reported Thursday, the third highest number. The total number of Kentucky deaths from the virus is 2,991. He urged residents to wear masks and follow rules and restrictions, saying “the authority that keeps us safe” shouldn’t be taken away now. The legislature last week gave final passage to bills limiting the governor’s emergency powers to impose restrictions meant to contain the coronavirus.
