PADUCAH (WSIL)---The city of Paducah has halted plans for the design and development of the Wellness and Aquatic Center.
The decision came at last night's city commission meeting where each member of the board decided now is not the best time for the project.
Mayor George Bray said he is not opposed to the idea of a Wellness and Aquatic center in the future but there needs to be additional steps before the project is revisited.
"Is there an opportunity for a wellness center in the future? Absolutely there is. Is it guaranteed? I don't think its guaranteed. It depends on whether or not we can pull the right group of people together and that group of people is the right group of people to pull the rest of the community together," said Bray.
The city entered into the agreement for professional design of the center in August of 2019.
