Inmate dies in Cape Girardeau County jail

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO. (WSIL) -- Details are limited at this time on an inmate dying at the Cape County Justice Center.

The Sheriff's Office sent out a press release saying on Saturday, January 16 a 60-year-old male was found dead in his.

At this time, authorities believe his passing was from natural causes due to complications related to preexisting health issues.

Officials say an autopsy will be scheduled and is likely take place on Tuesday. They add an autopsy is protocol for any death in the County’s Justice Center.

Meanwhile, they're working to notify next of kin.
