Carbondale man impersonates police officer, tries to steal car

CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A Carbondale man is in custody after impersonating a police officer to steal a car.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021.

Carbondale Police responded to a business in the 1900 block of South Illinois Avenue around 10 p.m., Monday, for a report of a male attempting to steal a car by impersonating a police officer.

During the course of the investigation officers arrested Lukas R. Jones, 31 of Carbondale, for impersonating a police officer and disorderly conduct. 

Jones was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
