CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- We saw plenty of sunshine to start the weekend but the chance for rain returns tonight.
Clouds will gradually increase this evening ahead of our next rain maker. Late tonight and into the predawn hours Sunday the chance for showers will ramp up.
Overnight freezing rain will be possible in our northern most counties. There will be a chance for isolated slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses for areas north of Route 13.
Showers will move through during the first half of the day Sunday eventually clearing from west to east. You may want the umbrella if you're headed out early.
A lull in the rain is expected as we shift into the afternoon and early evening but it won't last long. Our next system will move in Sunday night and into Monday with the potential for heavy rain.
Meteorologist Jacie Brianne will be tracking these systems and have the latest rainfall estimates tonight on News 3.
