Marion (WSIL) -- Children in need of a hearing test now have a local option.
Heartland Regional Medical Center partnered with St Louis Children's Hospital to bring a mobile hearing and speech clinic to the Marion facility.
The mobile clinic offers hearing tests, support for hearing aids, including cochlear implants and bone conduction systems, as well as counseling and speech therapy.
The clinic specializes in the unique challenges of testing very young children.
"It's very different doing it for an adult vs doing it for a child, we really have to have special test procedures and reinforcers to help the child participate. There's a lot of eagerness in making these services easier to access. Just this morning we had a family who said "thank you so much, I'm not sure I would have made it to St Louis for this hearing test," said Jamie Cadieux, Audiologist, St Louis Children's Hospital
The mobile clinic will be set up at Heartland Regional once a month. If you are interested in setting up an appointment with the mobile clinic, you can call 314-454-6171 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
